    Twenty Pounds Gone!! 

    Ahhhhh!!! Can you believe it?! I can’t!!

    Four weeks and down twenty pounds! I wish I could put into words how truly excited I am… no seriously guys.. I’m gonna cry from happiness!

    So here’s the question: how did I do it?

    If I could tell you that there was some miracle out there that lets you eat whatever you want, not workout, and lose weight.. that’s not the case! The honest truth is that you have to work HARD!! I’m not talking about working out two days a week and eating greasy burgers because that WILL NOT help you lose weight!!

    So what is next for me?? Well I still have 130 pounds to lose but that isn’t all!! No sir, no make!! I am currently training to run a 5K marathon!! Eeepp!! I’m so excited yet deathly afraid!!

    Do you run? Have you lost weight over the past four weeks?? What is your goal???

    The Chocolate Cake Diet

    Have cake.. on a diet.. really?? I know, I know, I know.. it sounds like one of those really bad infomercials that come on at two o’clock in the morning when you can’t sleep and there is nothing better to watch so you get sucked in by the really creepy man with the slap chop. Well those commercials might not be telling the whole truth but a scientific study can’t lie.. right?

     The Tel Aviv University has just recently published a study where they gathered 193 clinically obese, non-diabetic adults and split them into two groups. Both groups where given an almost identical diets,very similar to the well known Adkins diet, which consisted of 1,400 calories a day for women and 1,600 for the men. The kicker? While the first group was given a low-carb 300 calorie breakfast the second was allowed a 600 calorie breakfast high in protein and carbohydrates topped with.. GET THIS.. chocolate cake!!

     The study lasted for 32 weeks with the first 16 weeks being in a strictly controlled environment and the last portion allowing participants to diet on their own and maintain their weight. During the first 16 weeks most participants lost roughly about 33 pounds each in both test groups; however, during the later 16 weeks when asked to maintain their weight the study found that the participants who had eaten a dessert with their breakfast where more successful at keeping the weight off.

     SAY WHAT?!

     The study put forth the notion that if you were to indulge throughout the day (we all do it!) it is best to do it in the morning when you are more likely to burn off those extra calories during your daily actives!

     Does this mean that you can eat cake when you like? No!

     Does this mean that you can have the huge 3 pound chunk of cake you’ve been eyeballing in the refrigerator? No!

     I believe that it is important to understand in this study that the chocolate cake was consumed in moderation! Moderation!! I can not state that enough! All food, healthy or otherwise, will cause weight gain if you eat large quantities of it!

    P.S.-  Although I may not follow this diet (trying to cut out all unnatural sugars), if i ever came home to this cupcake I would definitely fangirl all over the place!
